What Inspires The Latest Fashion Creations
Have you ever wondered where designers like Tom Ford, Donatella Versace, Ralf Lauren and Stella McCartney find inspiration? I have often wondered how designers can come up with the latest designer fashion trends almost out of thin air sometimes. And they create new designer clothes and accessories like handmade leather handbags year after year. Some designs may not be commercial hits but they have their admirers. Needless to say, movie stars and other celebrities make up the bulk of those who don, or more importantly, are able to afford such extravagant clothing.
Some Designers may be very abstract in their creations. Some are inspired by particular hues, others by are inspired by lifestyles and there are even others who are inspired by styles of a bygone era. But the process of translating all this inspiration into a form of wearable art is nothing short of amazing sometimes. From skimpy lingerie to office wear, people are always looking for something unique.
Sometimes you can’t tell where the designer is coming from but there are also times when it is quite clear where a certain designer finds inspiration. For instance, it was obvious that J-Zhu got his inspiration from other worldly subjects judging by his collection at China’s fashion week recently. Of course the collection was not something one could wear to the office, a gala dinner or even in public. In fact, the collection looked more like something a mummy would be buried in. Nevertheless, the creativity of the young designer cannot be questioned and I for one can’t wait for him to design something more terrestrial for us humans to don.
Anyone recall the movie The Fifth Element? A certain celebrated French fashion designer by the name of Jean-Paul Gaultier created an astounding 954 costumes for the film. The designs certainly fit into the whole futuristic theme of the movie but it wasn’t surprising that fashionistas the fashion world did not pick up on the outrageous fashion cues. Still, the mind boggles at such creativity. And it wasn’t just the costumes. Even the hair styles were out of this world – pun intended. Especially eye catching was Chris Tucker’s cylindrical shaped hairdo. Sure it looked more liked birds should be laying eggs in it than a hair style but who would have thought of such a design.
Sometimes though, it does seem as though designers are going through a dry spell. How many times have we read that reducing the length of a skirt by an inch is the new look for next summer’s collection. But the moment word gets out, fashion sites are plastered with the latest looks with models donning skirts an inch shorter than last season’s. To the eye of the layman, it makes no difference. But to some fashionistas, they wouldn’t be caught dead in passé fashion.

4 Methods To Spend Less and Buy a Dress
With the current economic crunch, a lot of people right now are staving off from spending so much. They look for Methods to Spend Less Money. Now, people are no longer hanging out in the malls and splurging on the latest fashion and concentrating instead on the bare necessities like housing, utilities and food. But what if you need to buy a new set of clothes for an interview? Where will you get the money to spend on a new outfit? You know what, you can actually splurge on some items every now and then. You just need to find Methods to cut down your expenses on other things.
Below are some of the Methods to save their money and still be able to splurge on a few extras every now and then.
1. Save on Utilities
You may not realize it but you are paying a lot for your electricity and water bills. You just don’t notice it because it is one of the necessities that you always allot money for from your budget. What you don’t know is that by simply turning off the TV when no one is watching or changing the schedule of your laundry, you can save enough for a new bag or a dress.
Appliances that are still plugged even when not in use also consume electricity. Both the washing machine and the iron consumer a lot of electricity. If you want to lessen your electric bill, do the laundry and ironing once a week. This will mean that laundry will pile up but hey, you wanted to buy clothes!
2. Lessen the trips.
Another way to Spend Less Money is to schedule the trips outside. Although gas prices have gone down in recent months, gas money can still consume a lot from the budget. If you really want to afford that new dress, schedule your trips alongside trips that are necessary such as fetching the kids to school. Car pooling is also another option. You can have your neighbor take the kids to school alongside her kids and then take turns. That way, you both can save gas money.
3. Eat what you can
There is a reason why buffets always have a policy: Clean plate. That means that you should only get food that you know you can eat. Nothing more. A lot of people just take food without really considering if they can eat them or not. At home, train your kids to only put food on their plate that they can eat. That way, there will be no food wastage. You therefore can save a lot in food bills.
4. Recycle
Another obvious way to Spend Less Money for a dress is to not buy the dress at all. If it’s going to be just a one night affair, borrow from people that you know. You can also check out your closet and see if you have dresses that you can recycle. With the right accessories you can turn a blah outfit into a glamorous one. Just ask any stylist. If you do have the budget, albeit small. You can try going to thrift store and scour for a vintage find.
It will not be brand new but at least it will be a brand new addition to your closet. Besides if you are lucky you can find unworn pieces in thrift stores.
