Achieving better rankings from top notch keyword positioning.

In trying to achieve top rankings for your pages, we all know that using keywords (or keyword phrases) is important.

But, it’s also important to understand that the correct placement or positioning of your keyword phrases within your content area will improve your rankings over random placement.

Search engines such as MSN, Yahoo & Google have determined that the most important content or ideas on any page (and in any page section such as keyword meta tags, meta description tags, the body, the links on a page, etc.) will be toward the front, or beginning, of that area.

For example, using one of my sites (Guaranteed Search Engine Positioning – GSEP.COM) as an example, it’s better to use phrasing like “Guaranteed Search Engine Positioning from GSEP.COM” over “GSEP.COM provides Guaranteed Search Engine Positioning.” That puts the focus on what we do over who we are. You might ask, “Why is that important?” We’re not trying to have people who know our domain name find our site. They can just enter it into the address bar. We’re trying to make it easier for those who don’t know us to find us.

So, on my Northwest Web Design site, if our relevant phrase is “excellent service and support”, we’ll say “Excellent service and support is provided by Northwest Web Design”, rather than “Northwest Web Design provides excellent service and support.”

Of course, this procedure is just one of dozens of things to do, to increase your possibilities of high rankings. Among the others are selecting the right keyword phrases, having the right number of words in the body text, title and headings and having the correct number of links on the page (making sure that at least one of them points to a page with keywords in the page name.

However, using this single, simple technique over time should help improve your rankings.

Improving PC Performance the OPTIMAL Way in a Windows 2000 Environment

Have you ever felt stupid around people who are more computer literate than you? I know I have and to be honest it gets tiresome. In my case, I felt that way when I was asking some friends about my slow computer. The response was Duh! And then, after a few snickers, they started in on the way I asked the question.

‘Why is my computer suddenly slow’, how difficult can that phrase really be. It is not like I was asking for the keys to the corporate car but I just wanted a decent response for an issue that I was having with my computer. However, maybe it was because I was not born a high end techno geek like so many people seem to be these days.

This article is about how I overcame a technical issue without the help from a so called professional. Yes, a non-computer person successfully fixed what seemed like a overwhelming problem with regards to ‘The Complex Computer’. And it was so easy a caveman could do it, oops sorry for the commercial referral but it is VERY true.

Conjuring up a solution to my computer problem was actually easier than I thought possible. Now wrap your brain around this. Microsoft’s Windows Operating System is the blame. If your computer ran fine when you got it then there is only one thing that has truly changed and that is Windows. You see your computer uses three things, CPU, a hard drive, and memory. This is the same for you and me.

The computer itself gets its smarts, so to speak, from the operating system. The memory, processor and hard drive are just components within the machine itself. The PC cannot function with out them. But with them it is a powerful tool. Ask any machinist and they will tell you that all good machines need some level of maintenance and it usually involves cleaning. This is no different for computers. The registry fills up with useless information, the hard drive gets fragmented and applications are improperly uninstalled. And all of this happens slowly.

So dismiss the thought or suggestion from someone that you need to rush out and buy a new computer. That is false information and misleading. So ask yourself this question. Is it cheaper to buy a new computer for well over $1,000 or is it cheaper to spend around $30 to keep the computer running better? Hmmmm. Seems like a no brainer for me and I know that you agree.

Our web site offers the tool necessary for enabling a computer owner to fix a complicated problem with peacefulness. Having to depend on other Computer Saavy people regarding Best way to speed up my computer or even Why is my computer downloading so slow will become a thing of the past.

Using a Clickable State Map On Your Website

For many website owners it could be helpful to have a link to different geometric areas of the world or of their territory, whether it be for location specific information, sales of products or types of directory. A visual image like a map with coordinates that are clickable would be ideal. Visitors can be presented with a clickable UK map rather than a bunch of links or a dropdown menu for the UK.

For a webmaster to make such an application it takes time and care but the results will look impressive and give the website a touch of class.

First you need to find the correct size of map, either by scanning and reducing to desired size and then working to make it clear and colorful in a decent graphics program. That includes enhancing the boundaries of the states that you will eventually make clickable.

Next, the difficult part is to import the map image into a html editor or some map editing software that is capable of drawing hotspots upon the image and in turn make these hotspots into readable coordinates within the html code and when that is done each region will be clickable when presented in the browser.

Each clickable region can hyperlink to an url of your choice so for a clickable state map of UK and Ireland for example can link to an informative page for your visitors when they choose Greater London, Warwickshire, Devon and Cornwall etc etc Great for sending visitors to images or your affiliate links or regional news as another example.

Of course all this work to make a clickable map is too time consuming or probably unfathomable for some people without knowledge of website building but the vast majority know how to add hyperlinks.

You can find ready made clickable state maps at clickablemaps.com or the webmaster can make one just for you. Now that would save time and a nice idea too.
